$62,310 in Community Grants Awarded by Falmouth Road Race, Inc. This Spring

New Turf for North Falmouth Elementary School Soccer Field Leads Latest Round of Giving

FALMOUTH, MA (August 5, 2020)—Six nonprofit groups in the community have received a total of $62,310 in grants as part of the latest donations made by Falmouth Road Race, Inc.

Leading the way among projects to be funded is installation of grass-like turf on the North Falmouth Elementary School’s soccer field, so it can be used year-round.

“We’re excited to fund a project for the elementary school kids to have a beautiful, safe field to play on and that the community can enjoy, as well,” said Scott Ghelfi, president of the Falmouth Road Race, Inc. board of directors.

The grant program was established as a way for Falmouth Road Race, Inc. to give back to the community for its help and support. Each year, Falmouth residents and organizations provide many hours of volunteering for the New Balance Falmouth Road Race and the events surrounding it. Although the race will be celebrated as an At-Home Edition this year, without the accompanying events, the grant program has continued.

“COVID-19 has altered our world for this year, but that doesn’t mean the needs of our community have changed,” said Ghelfi. “If anything, they have grown, and we want to help as much as we can.”

Since fiscal year 2012-2013, Falmouth Road Race, Inc. has contributed more than $3.69 million to the health and wellness of Falmouth and the surrounding area through Community Giving and Grants.

In addition to North Falmouth Elementary School PTO, organizations receiving grants in this semi-annual round are:

  • ConfiKids, Inc. (To help fund enrollment in extracurricular activities)
  • Cape Cod Ambassadors (Help children in Cape Cod foster care system)
  • Neighborhood Falmouth, Inc. (Support its “Focus on Accessibility” program for senior citizens)
  • Dream Day on Cape Cod (Incorporate a “farm to table” program into camp activities, which offer respite to seriously ill children and their families)
  • EforAll (Support for entrepreneurs pitching business ideas related to health, wellness and fitness)

The next application deadline is December 1. For more information, visit falmouthitf.wpengine.com/grant-program/
