$107,305 in Community Grants Awarded by Falmouth Road Race, Inc.

Latest Round of Giving Focuses on Fitness in Falmouth Public Schools

FALMOUTH, MA (February 3, 2020)—Eight non-profit groups have received a total of $107,305 in grants as part of the latest donations by Falmouth Road Race, Inc., which presented the checks at a reception on January 29 at the Falmouth Public Library.

Leading the way among projects to be funded are fitness programs and equipment in four Falmouth Public Schools: the addition of a fitness course at Teaticket Elementary School and the purchase of ski ergometers – indoor cross country ski workout machines – at Morse Pond School, Lawrence School and Falmouth High School.

“We are once again proud to be able to help so many worthy non-profits through our grant program,” said Scott Ghelfi, president of the Falmouth Road Race, Inc., board of directors. “Through the success of the New Balance Falmouth Road Race and our hard-working staff and volunteers, FRR, Inc., is able to fulfill its mission by giving back to the local community and support health and wellness. Congratulations to our winter 2019-2020 recipients.”

The grant program was established as a way for Falmouth Road Race, Inc. to give back to the community for its help and support. Each year, Falmouth residents and organizations provide many hours of volunteering for the New Balance Falmouth Road Race, a world-class event for both elite and recreational runners, as well as for the Aetna Falmouth Elite Mile, the SBLI Family Fun Run, and the Health & Fitness Expo.

Since fiscal year 2012-2013, Falmouth Road Race, Inc. has contributed more than $2.8 million to the health and wellness of Falmouth and the surrounding area through Community Giving and Grants.

In addition to Falmouth Public Schools, organizations receiving grants in this semi-annual round are:

  • The Bridge Center (support of Saturday recreation program)
  • Brockton Track Club (expand membership ages 11-14)
  • Cape Cod MOVES (purchase of timing system and generator)
