Dr. John Jardine

Medical Program Director

Dr. John Jardine has served as Medical Director of the ASICS Falmouth Road Race and Shipwrecked Falmouth in the Fall since 2000. Under his dedicated leadership, a medical team of around 250 volunteers and professionals have treated thousands of medical cases, nearly 500 cases of life-threatening exertional heat stroke, and ensured 25 consecutive safe and fatality-free race days. Dr. Jardine’s multiple decades-long tenure as Medical Director started in the early 2000s. After attending medical school in New York, he completed his residency in Providence, Rhode Island, where he met his wife. The two of them moved to Falmouth, and his career launched from the Emergency Department (ED) at Falmouth Hospital in 2000.

Korey Stringer Institute (KSI) Partnership

Falmouth Road Race, Inc. has partnered with the Korey Stringer Institute (KSI) through the years to support their research at their annual summer road race, the ASICS Falmouth Road Race, and fall race, Shipwrecked Falmouth in the Fall. This unique partnership has afforded students and senior researchers alike the experience of field research in thermal stress, hydration, wearable devices, new technologies and elite athlete performance. Some of the most notable research in exertional heat stroke prevention and treatment has been conducted at the ASICS Falmouth Road Race. A total of 27 research articles have been published based on data collected at the ASICS Falmouth Road Race. By endorsing KSI’s field research, Falmouth Road Race, Inc. has promoted wellness and optimized safety not only for the runners at their own race day, but for any athlete, warfighter, or laborer active in the heat.
